The 2009 Showcase of Success Distinguished Alumni held a Q & A panel presentation in the high school seminar center on Friday and took question from current OHP students.
The event was held as a pre-induction event before the three are inducted into the Showcase of Success tonight.
Three alumni of Ohio Hi-Point Career Center's high school programs will be inducted into the school's "Showcase of Success Distinguished Alumni Honors" on Saturday, May 2, 2009 during a special dinner gala. Carol (Smith) DelGrosso, Beth A. Brentlinger and Aaron Wren were all selected for induction for their career and community service achievements since graduating from Ohio Hi-Point.
DelGrosso is a 1978 graduate of Ohio Hi-Point and Bellefontaine High School. While at Ohio Hi-Point she studied in the drafting program and continued her education at The Ohio State University earning a degree in Industrial Design Visual Communications. She currently is partner and creative director at Ozone Studios in Columbus, OH, with her husband, Mike. Ozone is an award-winning media production studio that has been in business for 12 years.
Brentlinger is a 1976 graduate of Ohio Hi-Point and Benjamin Logan High School. She studied cosmetology while a student and became licensed shortly after graduation. She began her career at Empress Salon and also worked at Headlines Salon. For 11 years in New York she owned and operated her own successful salon business before returning to Ohio in 1995. Since that time she has worked in salons and served as a substitute teacher in the OHP's Cosmetology program, while also serving on the program's advisory committee. She is currently employed at Mane Attractions in Bellefontaine.
Wren is a 1979 graduate of Ohio Hi-Point and Benjamin Logan High School. Wren studied plumbing and pipefitting while at the career-technical school and went to work following graduation in plumbing maintenance at meat plants and farming until he saved enough money to start his own plumbing business from the ground-up. Today, Wren's Plumbing has grown to service Logan County and the surrounding area with four plumbers employed and three service trucks. Wren has been even more active in the community, giving his time and donating materials for educational programs at Ohio Hi-Point and Benjamin Logan, as well as for hospice patients. He serves on OHP's Building Maintenance program advisory committee as well.
The three inductees will join nine other graduates of Ohio Hi-Point Career Center programs that were inducted in 2004 and 2005. The Showcase of Success was started in 2004 to honor distinguished alumni of the school district's high school and adult education programs. Inductees are nominated by former teachers, friends, colleagues, family or others and must have completed an Ohio Hi-Point program at least 10 years ago, while showcasing a successful career pathway and quality community service.
